this is a pretty scary video.
Its easy to second guess and criticize watching a video tape afterwards, so I will not do that, other then to say that there were several tactical errors with how she handled the arrest.
this would be a great video for use of Force demonstrations.

i agree. Not much training or the training she did receive perhaps was not ever tested under stress.
Who really knows. Hope she went out and searched for additional training after that day.

Great video! I'm glad the Officer is ok. Thank GOD for the good Samaritan!
Obviously it is easy to pick a video apart from the sidelines, etc. Hindsight is always 20/20. I just wanted to gain something positive from the video that we could all learn and take away from this otherwise crazy fight.
Weapon retention is something LEOs (law enforcement officers) need to keep in mind every shift. Someone grabs at your bat-belt, you must realize that you're in a world of hurt.
NO ONE is allowed to grab at your tools. To do so could be seen as a threat of DGBH (death or grievous bodily harm) against the officer.
Once it was clear that this subject was resisting arrest and was clearly trying to access the officer's tools, the officer would have been in the clear to do WHATEVER was necessary to neutralize the threat.
Kicks / knee strikes to the groin and knees, gouge the eyes, attack the throat, get aggressive and make the subject wish they hadn't tried to do something so stupid as to take away an officer's tools.
It's not always easy to create TIME and DISTANCE when dealing with a subject. So if you can't get distance, then CLOSE the GAP and take the BG out using effective CQB.
Again, am glad the officer came out of that scenario alive.
