You should ALWAYS attempt a disarm. At the beginning of a robbery it is the demand for your money that is keeping you alive, once that demand is met you are expendable to the bad guys. Always feighn compliance, never comply.
yup. That's the question.
You cooperate and comply with their demands. But will they let you go at the end of it all? Most people ASSUME that will happen because they complied to begin wtih. But there are situations where the bad guy(s) will NOT let you go and will escalate their assault onto you physically, even though you were compliant.
Some other tactical considerations to keep in mind:
- 1+ rule: where there is ONE weapon there is another.
- 1+ rule: where there is one attacker (or in this case two) there are more outside, and they are most likely armed as well
- your exit is essentially blocked by them so there;s no way out other than going through them
- if u can't see their hands you can't see if they are holding a weapon. Hands in pockets are a major threat cue.
- close quarters environment means you can't use other techniques that require more room to become effective.
They now have his ID, his keys to his car and house and work possibly, as well as his money. Do we really want someone to leave with all that info about us as well as our keys? Yes locks can be changed, money can be replaced, we can always MOVE I suppose..... sucks to be him.
